We took advice on the icing from our neighbour who in the 1960's won first prizes at Canterbury A & P shows for cake decorating. It was decided that this cake would have mock cream in the middle layer and be iced with chocolate ganache . We didn't make enough chocolate ganache but a quick trip by hubbie saw this rectified with more chocolate .
I prepared the cakes , my neighbour made the mock cream and then No 2 and I made the ganache.
Good fun but I had to laugh as I couldn't eat the cake . I could eat the mock cream and the ganache was GF . Cake was DF but mock cream and ganache not,so that ruled it out for No 2. Then No 1 couldn't eat the ganache as it was not NF.
However we won't be there and No 2 just wanted it to be a special treat for his friend .
All in all it will be great for tonight . Just made me have quiet giggle .
Also I hate making cakes and giving then away when I can't test the mixture . Oh well could be worse .
